Job Summary:

GIBB requires a Cost Controller to manage and control project or operational costs within the organization, ensuring that they are within budget and that financial goals are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing cost control procedures and processes for projects or operations.
  • Analysing and monitoring project or operational budgets, comparing actual costs against budgets, and identifying any variances.
  • Conducting cost estimates and forecasting for future projects or operations.
  • Identifying cost reduction opportunities and making recommendations for cost-saving initiatives.
  • Monitoring and managing project or operational financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and cash flow.
  • Collaborating with project or operational teams to ensure that financial goals are met and that costs are controlled.
  • Reviewing and analysing financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Preparing financial reports and presenting them to management.
  • Providing guidance and support to project or operational teams on financial matters.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or BTech in (Civil, Elec, Mech, QS, Commerce)
  • Relevant degree or certification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Accounting is required
  • Registered with ECSA/SACPQSP as a Professional is advantageous. Must provide Certificate with registration number
  • Relevant experience in project management, engineering, or a related field
  • Registered with PMI advantageous.
  • Matric. Must provide Certificate with results
  • Experience within the Built Environment
  • 5 – 10 years’ Cost Control experience

Core Competencies/Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Have knowledge of financial management principles, such as budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Must be able to guide and lead supporting staff.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems is also required.
  • Must have MS Office experience.
